The concentration of perfume oil in any fragrance decides how long a perfume would
last on the skin. While different brands add this concentrate as per their own standards,
most products can be categorized as-
Perfum, also called a pure perfume, has the highest fragrance concentration of up to
20%-30%. This concentrate can last up to 6-8 hours on skin and is generally the most
expensive category in fragrances.
Eau De Parfum’s concentration ranges from 15% to 20% making it last for a good 5
hours. Most brands offer Eau De Parfum concentration, and while is priced lower than
Parfum, this concentration is best suited for evenings and special occasions.
Eau De Toilette is one of the most common concentrates available and is suitable for
everyday wear. The EDT's concentrate percentage is at 5% to 15% and lasts for 2-3
hours. Almost every perfume company invests in the manufacturing of this in-between
concentrate as it also comes to a reasonable price.
Eau De Cologne has a fragrance concentrate of up to 2% to 4% and can last for 2 hours.
